There are a variety of services offered for international students at the 6 Northern Ontario Colleges. Check them out below!
Northern College
Annually, the college dedicates a week for domestic and international students to learn about Indigenous Culture. This is a great way for students who are unaware of the culture to learn and understand it better and witness a traditional powwow celebration which includes cultural singing and dancing rituals.
Cambrian College
International students don’t have to worry about figuring out a way to get to their new home because Cambrian College offers a free pick up service at the Sudbury Airport, bus station, and train terminal. To become accustomed to their new home, Cambrian College helps international students become familiar with Sudbury through excursions and provides them with accessing religious, cultural and recreation services offered both on and off campus.
Canadore College
Arrangements can be made for international students to be picked up at both the North Bay Airport and Pearson International Airport. On campus, there is a Multi-Faith meditation room that students can use as well.
Collège Boréal
Collège Boréal offers a unique initiative called Student For a Day where potential students can sit in a class and meet professors at one of their 7 campuses. For international students who did not get an opportunity to visit the college during their open house, they can still get to experience life as a student in the North. Furthermore, there is a program for newcomers and international students to help them get essentials such as a health card and Social Insurance Number.
Sault College
What better way to for international students to experience Northern Ontario with a free unlimited ski pass! Sault College offers students a free unlimited season pass to Searchmont Ski Resort. Every student should take advantage of this opportunity!
Confederation College
Learning a whole new language can be difficult in addition to studying but Confederation College provides international students with language buddies to practice English, and to experience Canadian life. In turn, international students have an opportunity to teach a Canadian student about their own culture!
