Have you ever presented in front of a group of people? Maybe during school? Speaking in a public setting may seem like an easy task and may come naturally for some people, but for a lot of people, it can be very daunting.
Having strong public speaking abilities is a great skill to have that will help you in your post-secondary studies and with your career.
This used to be me. You know during an interview when they ask you that question, “what is your biggest weakness?”, my answer would always be that my biggest weakness was public speaking. Because I was aware of this, I decided to change that.
I decided to join a group that helps individuals with public speaking. You may have heard about Toastmasters? If you haven’t and are looking to improve your public speaking skills, I would definitely recommend attending a student club at your school where you can learn public speaking and confidence! Be sure to check out what your school can offer you!
Not only was I able to get the courage to speak in front of a large group of people, I even went on to compete in a competition with over 100 audience members, most of whom were professional speakers. I also gained confidence which helped me grow in my personal and my professional life.
Good luck students!
